Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. To help prevent possible injury, turn the start switch off when changing fuel filters or water separator elements. Clean up fuel spills immediately.

Remove plate (1) .

Close fuel shutoff valve (2) .

Open door (3) .

Open drain valve (10) in order to drain filter assembly (9) into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Use Tooling (A) to remove filter assembly (9) .
Disconnect harness assemblies (8). Disconnect hose assembly (6) and hose (7) (not shown).
Remove bolts (4) (not shown) and fuel priming pump (5) .Installation Procedure

Position fuel priming pump (5) and install bolts (4) (not shown).
Connect hose assembly (6) and hose (7) (not shown). Connect harness assemblies (8). Close drain valve (10) .
Use Tooling (A) to install filter assembly (9) .
