Introduction
The 7C2662, 7C2664 and 7C3507 VR3 Voltage Regulators have been canceled. Each of these voltage regulators is replaced by a new voltage regulator plus some additional parts. Refer to the topic Necessary Parts for parts replacement information.Do not perform any procedure, outlined in this publication, or order any parts until you have read and understand the information contained within.Reference: Service Manual.Necessary Parts
When servicing or repairing electric power generation equipment:* Make sure the unit is off-line (disconnected from utility and/or other generators power service), and either locked out or tagged DO NOT OPERATE.* Make sure the generator engine is stopped.* Make sure all batteries are disconnected.* Make sure all capacitors are discharged.
When power generation equipment must be in operation to make tests and/or adjustments, high voltage and current are present.Make sure the testing equipment is designed for and correctly operated for the high voltage and current tests being made.Improper test equipment may fail and present a high voltage shock hazard to its user.
Installation of New Voltage Regulator
1. Remove the original 7C2662, 7C2664 or 7C3507 Voltage Regulator from the generator.Make sure that all disconnected wires are correctly identified, so they can be correctly connected when the new voltage regulator is installed.2. Install the correct new voltage regulator according to the parts chart.3. Connect all disconnected wires to the new voltage regulator, except for permanent magnet wires numbered 11, 12 and 13.4. Remove (cut off) the lugs from permanent magnet stator wires numbered 11 and 13.5. Strip the end of permanent magnet stator wire number 11. Insert the stripped end of wire 11 into the barrel connector of one of the 7E8266 Fuse Assemblies.Crimp the connector onto the wire.6. Strip the end of permanent magnet stator wire number 13. Insert the stripped end of wire 13 into the barrel connector on the other 7E8266 Fuse Assembly.Crimp the connector onto the wire.7. Connect permanent magnet stator wire number 12 to terminal number 28 on the voltage regulator.8. Connect the lug end of the 7E8266 Fuse Assembly on permanent magnet stator wire number 11, to terminal number 30 on the voltage regulator.9. Connect the lug end of the 7E8266 Fuse Assembly on permanent magnet stator wire number 13, to terminal number 26 on the voltage regulator.10. Use the two 6K0806 Cable Straps to secure the 7E8266 Fuse Assemblies and permanent magnet stator wire number 12, to the voltage regulator wire bundle.
