EXCAVATOR, UNDERCARRIAGE,
Information:
Operation Description:The following procedure should be performed if the diagnostic indicator does not turn on. Possible causes of failure are listed below:
Loss of battery voltage at the control
Failure in the diagnostic indicator
Failure in the machine harness
Blown fuse in the fuse panel of the machine
Failure in the ECMTest Step 1. CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE AT THE INDICATOR
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Use the 7X-1710 Multimeter Probe in order to measure the voltage. Measure the voltage between the contact for the 126-PK wire and frame ground.Expected Result:The voltage at the harness connector does NOT vary from the battery voltage by more than 0.5 VDC.Results:
OK - The voltage at the harness connector does NOT vary from the battery voltage by more than 0.5 VDC. The system voltage is correct. Proceed to test step 2.
NOT OK - The voltage at the harness connector varies from the battery voltage by more than 0.5 VDC. The harness has failed.Repair: Repair the harness or replace the harness. Stop.Test Step 2. CHECK THE DIAGNOSTIC INDICATOR
Disconnect wire C920-GY from the negative terminal of the indicator.
Connect a jumper wire from the negative terminal of the indicator to frame ground.Expected Result:The indicator turns ON.Results:
OK - The indicator turns ON. The indicator is correct. Proceed to test step 3.
NOT OK - The indicator does NOT turn ON. The indicator is NOT correct.Repair: Replace the indicator. Stop.Test Step 3. CHECK FOR A PROBLEM IN THE HARNESS OF THE INDICATOR
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the ECM.
Reconnect wire C920-GY to the negative terminal of the indicator.
Connect a jumper from ground to connector contact 30 on the harness connector.Expected Result:The indicator turns ON.Results:
OK - The indicator turns ON. The machine harness is correct. Repair: Connect the harness connector to the ECM and cycle power. If the diagnostic indicator does NOT turn on, the ECM may have failed. It is unlikely that the ECM has failed. Clean the connectors. Check the ECM pins. Exit this procedure and repeat this procedure again. If the failure is still present, refer to Troubleshooting, "Electronic Control Module". Stop.
NOT OK - The indicator does NOT turn ON. The harness is NOT correct.Repair: Repair the harness or replace the harness. Stop.
