Move the machine to a hard, level surface.
Engage the parking brake and stop the engine.
Install the steering frame lock. ReferenceRefer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Steering Frame Lock" for the machine being serviced.
Put blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.Test Procedure

Location of the pressure tap for the brake release system
Attach Tooling (B) to the pressure tap.
Fully compress the piston rod in the brake release cylinder. The oil pressure reading on the gauge should be within the pressure range in Table 1.
If the pressure reading on the gauge is too low, there may be air present in the towing brake release system. Purge the air from the brake release system.ReferenceRefer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Brake Release System Air - Purge" for the machine that is being serviced.
If the reading on the gauge is still too low, then perform the following checks:
Check the braking system for oil leaks
Inspect the brake discs for wearReferenceRefer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Brake Disc Wear - Check" for the machine that is being serviced.
Release the force compressing the piston rod in the brake release cylinder.

Brake release cylinder
Measure the length (A) of the piston rod protruding from the brake release cylinder. Refer to Table 2 for the correct piston rod length.
If the piston rod length is incorrect, investigate the cause and rectify the problem.
