Testing Procedure
Extend the cylinder to approximately mid-stroke.
Position the linkage so that both ends of the cylinder can safely be reached from the ground.
Use a tape measure in order to record the cylinder length from the center of the pin at the head end of the cylinder to the center of the pin at the rod end.Note: The measurement must be in millimeters.Note: The cylinder length must be measured carefully. Make sure to measure from the center of each cylinder pin.
Repeat step 1 through step 3 for each cylinder.
Use Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) in order to view the cylinder lengths as measured by the AccuGrade system.
Connect to the machine with ET2006B or newer software and a communication adapter.
Select the "Machine Control" ECM.
Press "OK".
Go to "Information".
Select "Status".
Select AccuGrade under the "Machine Control" ECM.
Compare the length that is displayed on the "Status" screen to the length that was measured with the tape. If the error exceeds 2 mm (0.079 inch), perform a calibration of the cylinder.
