IGNITION GP-GAS ENGINE 2857192 - Caterpillar

When replacing the wire rope or hydraulic hose for the inner tube cylinder, use the following procedure. 1. Remove the clamshell bucket from the telescopic stick. See "Removing and Installing Clamshell Bucket."Put the machine in the transportation position as shown above. 2. Remove both access covers from the rear of the outer tube. 3. Extend the middle tube until the connecting end of the hydraulic hose is visible from the access window. (Approximately 70 cm (27 inch) from the full retraction position.)4. Completely release pressure from the hydraulic system and disconnect the hydraulic hose from the line through the access window. 5. Free the cover pipe (used as a connector) from the outer tube by removing four bolts. 6. Disconnect the hydraulic hose from the cover pipe. 7. Fasten wires [approximately 5 m (16'5") long] to both ends of the disconnected hydraulic hose. These are used as a guide line when reconnecting the hydraulic hose. 8. Remove ten bolts (2) and remove dust seal (1) from the outer tube. 9. Remove bolts (4) that hold liner plates (3) in place. Remove liner plates (3) from outer tube with a screwdriver. 10. Loosen the clip on the front end of the middle tube and disconnect the wire rope from the middle tube. Pull the disconnected end of the wire rope outward until the sheave and hydraulic hose come out. 11. Disconnect the other end of the wire rope from the tension rod on the outer tube. 12. Installation is the reverse of disassembly. When replacing the hydraulic hose at the same time, fasten guide wires to both ends of the new hydraulic hose and slide it in position into the outer tube. Use care to avoid the wire rope and hydraulic hose from twisting during installation.13. After installing, correctly adjust the wire rope tension.
