MODELS INVOLVED - CERTAIN D7E TRACK-TYPE TRACTORS
Dear Cat Product Owner:
The track recoil cylinder charge pressure needs to be inspected on the products listed below. The existing track recoil cylinders may lose nitrogen charge pressure that can result in too much track sag and reduced or no track recoil functionality. Site personnel may perceive this as the track requiring additional track adjustment. Improper diagnosing of the track adjuster grease system versus the track recoil cylinder nitrogen system may lead to structural failures of the final drive housing and tractor mainframe.
The track tension adjuster manifolds need to be reworked to include a burst fuse and warning film. The burst fuse will minimize resultant damage to the final drive and mainframe if the track recoil cylinder loses charge pressure. Additionally, the Operation and Maintenance Manual (OMM) needs to be replaced. Changes have been made to the "Track Adjust" section of the OMM. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Cat dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
