1. Mark for identification and location purposes for installation, and disconnect all wires connected to solenoid (1) and electric starting motor (3).2. Fasten a nylon strap to electric starting motor (3), and support it with a hoist as shown.3. Remove three bolts (2) and electric starting motor (3) with its gasket. The weight of the electric starting motor is 32 kg (70 lb).
Check the condition of the gasket used between the electric starting motor and the flywheel housing. If the gasket is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.
The following steps are for the installation of the electric starting motor.4. Fasten a nylon strap to electric starting motor (3), and support it with a hoist. Position the electric starting motor with its gasket into the flywheel housing bore. Install three bolts (2) that hold the electric starting motor.5. Remove the hoist and the nylon strap from the electric starting motor (3).6. Connect all wires to electric starting motor (3) and solenoid (1) in their original locations. Tighten the nut that holds the battery cable to the solenoid, and any additional large terminal nuts, to a torque of 30 3 N m (22 2 lb ft). Tighten the remainder of the small terminal nuts to a torque of 2.6 0.8 N m (23 7 lb in).
