Remove all dead limbs. Cut the roots on the side that is the opposite direction of the fall.

Cut the roots on the side that is parallel to the direction of the fall.

Ease into the tree. Push the tree in the direction of the fall with the blade high. Build an earth ramp if higher contact is needed.
Do not drive onto the stump while the tree is falling.

Large Brush and Medium Size TreesContact the tree 300 to 400 mm (12 to 16 inch) above the ground. Raise the blade and move the machine forward.

Brush ClearingLower the blade slightly into the ground and move forward. When the brush is out, raise the blade. This will loosen the earth from the roots.

Stump RemovalRemove the stump by raising the blade.

Side Hill CutWhen possible, start the cut downgrade. Make the slope to the inside of the cut. Make the bench wide enough for the machines that follow.
