Proper operation and maintenance are key factors in attaining the maximum service life and economy for the engine. Follow the instructions in this Operation and Maintenance Manual to minimize operating costs and maximize the service life of the engine.Note: Do not operate the engine if a misfire condition exists. Operating the engine in a misfire condition will cause engine imbalance and lead to engine and or coupling damage if not corrected.Observe the gauges frequently while the engine is operating. Record the data from the gauges in a log regularly. Compare the data to the specifications for normal engine operation. Comparing the data over time will help to detect changes in engine performance.Investigate any significant change in the gauge readings. Monitor the engine operation and take action when discrepancies are found.Operating the Generator Set
Check the gauges and the generator frequently while the engine is operating under a load. The engine can be operated for extended periods of time at full load.Partial Load Operation
Extended operation at low idle or at reduced load may cause increased oil consumption and carbon buildup in the cylinders. Carbon buildup results in a loss of power and/or poor performance.When possible, apply a full load at least on an hourly basis. Application of a full load on an hourly basis will burn excess carbon from the cylinders.
