The EMI capacitors are connected to the following components:
each phase of the input cable landings
each phase of the output cable landings
the output of the K1 circuit breaker
the input of the K5 circuit breakerThe EMI capacitors are charged during the operation of the UPS. The EMI capacitors reduce the amount of electromagnetic interference in the system.

Cable Landing Capacitor Locations (1) Rear Panel (2) Capacitors, Double BankThe cable landings each contain two banks of capacitors that are mounted back to back. The two banks of capacitors are located at the rear of the cable landings. Refer to Illustration 1.

Circuit Breaker Capacitors (3) Input Breaker K1 (4) Output Breaker K5 (Optional) (5) CapacitorsThe K1 input circuit breaker contains two banks of capacitors that are mounted back to back on each phase of the output for the breaker. These capacitors are located under the circuit breaker. Refer to Illustration 2.

Banks Of CapacitorsThe K5 output circuit breaker contains one bank of front mounted capacitors on each phase of the input to the circuit breaker. These capacitors are located under the circuit breaker. Refer to Illustration 2.Removal
Note: Refer to the information in the Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR7654, "Internal Component Preremoval Steps (Input/Output Cabinet)" in order to de-energize the system and gain access to internal components.
Remove the following components from the bank of capacitors using a 178 mm (7/16 inch) socket: six nuts, split washers and regular washers.
Remove the front bank of capacitors by pulling the bank forward.
If the spacers are present, remove the two spacers from the top and the bottom.Note: Each location for the capacitors on the bottom of the K5 circuit breaker only uses a front bank of capacitors. Refer to Illustration 3.
If the rear bank of capacitors is present, remove the rear bank of capacitors.Note: Each location for the capacitors on the bottom of the K5 circuit breaker only uses a front bank of capacitors. Refer to Illustration 3.Installation

Capacitor Assembly (8) EMI Capacitors
Attach the banks of capacitors in the order that is indicated in Illustration 4 and the following steps.
Place the rear bank of capacitors, if needed, to the bracket. The rear capacitors will face the back of the cabinet.Note: Each location for the capacitors on the bottom of the K5 circuit breaker only uses a front bank of capacitors. Refer to Illustration 3.
Place two spacers on the bracket bolts.Place one spacer on the top of the brackets bolts and place one spacer on the bottom of the brackets bolts.
Place the front bank of capacitors on the bolts. These capacitors will face the front of the cabinet.
Attach the banks of capacitors.Use the following components: six washers and nut sets. Refer to Illustration 4.
Tighten the nuts with a 178 mm (7/16 inch) socket to 11.3 N m (100 lb in).
