Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.Problem
The welded joints on the top plate of the boom near the boom foot pin may crack. Cracks can originate at a welded joint because of insufficient weld penetration. If the crack in the weld propagates adequately, the boom could crack through the entire cross section. Cracked booms typically appear in the 2000 to 5500 service meter hour range. The cracks in the welds do not appear to be a result of any specific application.Solution
If cracks appear in the welded joint on the top plate of the boom, do not make any repairs to the boom. Please work through your dealer technical communicator for the necessary information in order to complete any repairs. The dealer technical communicator will contact the Dealer Solution Network. The affected booms are listed in Table 1.
