The filter element also protects the engine aftertreatment system.Note: Excessive quantities of oil that enter the induction system of the engine can rapidly increase the engine speed without control.

Ensure that dirt cannot enter the breather assembly. Ensure that the outside body of the breather assembly is clean and free from damage. Place a container under the breather assembly.
Remove clip (3) and remove hose (4) from cap (2). Remove cap (2) from the main body (1).

Remove filter element (5) and remove O ring seal (6) and discard.Note: Ensure that all parts are clean and free from dirt.
Install a new O ring seal (6) onto the cap (2) and install a new filter element (5) into the cap (2).
Install cap assembly into the main body (1). Tighten the cap assembly to 10 N m (7 lb ft).
Install hose (4) and clip (3). Remove the container and clean away any split fluid.
