Monitoring System
The monitoring system continuously monitors all machine systems and communicates with the ECMs of other systems via the CAN data link. The hardware components of the monitoring system are:
Indicators and Gauges (Dash panel)
Graphical display module (Advisor)
VIMSTMThe monitoring system can indicate warnings that have occurred in the ECMs of other systems, including:
Brake
Chassis
VIMSTM
EngineReference System Operation, "Warning Operation"Indicators and Gauges

Dash panel (1) Oil pressure gauge (2) Left turn signal (3) Hand/Load brake (4) High beam (5) RSC/ARC (Retarding speed control/automatic retarding control) (6) Dump body raised (7) Right turn signal (8) Voltmeter gauge (9) Fuel gauge (10) Speedometer gauge (11) Tachometer (12) Coolant temperature gauge
Oil Pressure Gauge (1) - Oil pressure gauge indicates engine oil pressure.
Left Turn Signal (2) - This indicator illuminates when the left turn signal light is operating.
Hand Load Brake (3) - Hand/load brake indicator illuminates engaged.
High Beam (4) - When this indicator is illuminated, the high beam headlights are on.
RSC/ARC (Retarding Speed Control/Automatic Retarding Control) (5) - RSC/ARC indicator will illuminate when the truck retarding system is enabled.
Dump Body Raised (6) - When this indicator is illuminated, dump body is in the raised position.
Right Turn Signal (7) - This indicator illuminates when the right turn signal light is operating.
Voltameter System (8) - Voltameter system shows system voltage.
Fuel Level (9) - When the level of fuel in the fuel tank is low, the fuel level gauge will be in the red zone. Speedometer (10) - Speedometer indicates the truck speed.
Tachometer (11) - The tachometer indicates the engine RPM and engine overspeed. Engine overspeed is represented by the yellow zone and the red zone.
Coolant Temperature Gauge (12) - Coolant temperature gauge indicates the temperature of the engine coolant. VIMSTM 3G Monitoring System
VIMSTM 3G is a standard feature that monitors payload operations and collects data for other machine systems. VIMS 3G data is used to assist the service personnel with machine maintenance and troubleshooting. All abnormal conditions on the machine system are called events. VIMS 3G stores information about events as data. The operator is alerted to the existence of abnormal machine conditions via the Advisor display module. A high engine coolant temperature is an example of an event. Events are related to a machine system and usually require an operator response. For example, the operator needs to modify operation to cool the oil temperature for the converter when the temperature is too high. When such an event is present, the operator is shown information on the Advisor screen. A fault with the electrical system of the machine is called a diagnostic. A diagnostic requires a service technician to make a repair.Feature Variations
VIMS 3G is designed to operate on several different types of machines. All of the possible functions of VIMS 3G are not needed on every type of machine. Configuration software is used to identify the type of machine and the available VIMS 3G functions.Diagnostic Information
Diagnostic information is stored in VIMS 3G for all system events and diagnostics. The information is stored even if the condition is not
