Certain C175 Commercial Engines are showing heads with tight valve lash from intake valve recession. The problem typically occurs at hours greater than 5000 hours.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem and recommends reducing valve lash intervals from 4000 hours to 2000 hours on engines experiencing this issue.The maximum amount of valve recession is limited to 2 mm (0.08 inch) of wear. The nominal head deck to valve stem tip measurement is 60.538 mm (2.383 inch).
