Machine Stopping
Park on a level surface. If it is necessary to park on a grade, block the tracks securely.Do not engage the parking brake while the machine is moving unless an emergency exists.
1. Apply the service brakes to stop the machine. 2. Move the transmission control to NEUTRAL. 3. Engage the parking brake.4. Lower the dozer blade and all attachments to the ground. Apply slight down pressure.Engine Stopping
Stopping the engine immediately after it has been working under load, can result in overheating and accelerated wear of the engine components.See the following stopping procedure, to allow the engine to cool, and to prevent excessive temperatures in the turbocharger center housing, which could cause oil coking problems.
1. With the machine stopped, run the engine for five minutes at LOW IDLE. 2. Push the governor lever all the way forward and stop the engine. Turn the start switch key to OFF. Remove the key.Release Hydraulic Pressure
Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent possible injury, do the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the hydraulic system.
1. Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from working machines and personnel and lower implements to the ground.2. Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep all other personnel either away from the machine or in view of the operator.3. Activate the parking brake.4. Stop the engine.5. Move the implement control levers to all positions to release the pressure in the hydraulic system.6. Carefully loosen the filler cap on the hydraulic tank to release the pressure on the tank.7. Make sure all hydraulic pressure is released before any fitting, hose or component is loosened, tightened, removed or adjusted.8. Tighten the filler cap on the hydraulic tank.9. The pressure in the system has now been released and lines or components can be removed.Leaving Machine
1. Use the steps and handholds. When dismounting use both hands and face the machine. 2. Inspect the engine compartment for debris. Clean out any debris and paper to avoid a fire.3. Remove all flammable debris from front bottom guard through the access doors to reduce fire hazard.4. If the machine is being parked for an extended period (such as overnight), turn the battery disconnect switch key to OFF and remove the key.5. Install all vandalism protection covers and locks.
