Some remanufactured cylinder packs for Series 3500 engines may have been shipped with contamination from blasting materials. The affected population consists of cylinder packs that were manufactured, packed, and shipped between the dates of 01May 2009 and 05July 2009. The range of date codes is from D01M05Y2009 to D05M07Y2009. Refer to Table 1 for a list of affected part numbers.

Search the dealer inventory for cylinder packs with the listed part numbers and date codes. Affected cylinder packs should be removed from inventory. The affected cylinder packs must not be installed into engines. A service letter will be issued to dealers regarding the disposition of the affected cylinder packs. The letter will also outline corrective actions for affected cylinder packs that have been installed into engines.
