(C) Suction tube typically fails at termination of skip weld on the baffle. A small notch may need to be added to the baffle to allow welding around the entire tube.
(EE) Bottom of tube should be 40 10 mm (1.58 0.39 inch) from the bottom of the tank
Retrieve the broken portion of the suction tube and reweld to the suction tube remaining on the tank. A small notch may need to be added to the upper baffle to allow for welding around suction tube.Note: The suction tube will need to be leak checked before the fuel tank is put back into service. This can be completed with minimal pressurization of the tube, and a soapy water check over the weld repaired area.

Tube support (F) will need to be added to the tube to prevent further failures. Fabricate tube support (F) from mild steel using the dimensions shown in Illustration 32. Slide tube support (F) along the sump baffle until tube support (F) contacts fuel suction tube (C).Note: Alternate tube support (F) can be made from 3/16 inch thick by 3 inch angle iron.
Weld tube support (F) all around the suction tube with a 6 mm (0.24 inch) fillet weld.
Weld the top and sides of tube support (F) to lower baffle (BC) with a 6 mm (0.24 inch) fillet weld.

Fabricate plate (H) from mild steel 5 mm (0.20 inch) thick using the dimensions shown in Illustration 36 to cover the access hole. Plate (H) will allow an overlap of 10 mm (0.39 inch) around the entire cutout.
