Prepare the machine for disassembly and assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR5664, "Air Conditioning and Heating R-134a for All Caterpillar Products", "Machine Preparation for Disassembly and Assembly".
Refer to Illustration 1. Remove the hardware and remove the three clips (A) from the machine. Discard the 2A-4639 Bolt (B) and the 7K-3377 Pipe (C). You can discard the clips. Save the remaining hardware.
Remove the 279-2452 Hose As (D) from the machine. Refer to Illustration 2. Install the 304-8968 Hose As (1). Do not attach either end of the hose.Note: When you remove the hoses and when you install the hoses, use two wrenches in order to prevent damage to the components.
Refer to Illustration 1. Remove the 279-2451 Hose As (E) from the machine. Refer to Illustration 2. Install the 304-8967 Hose As (2). Do not attach either end of the hose.
Refer to Illustration 2. By using one 1W-3011 Spacer (3), one 7X-0291 Bolt (4), one 9X-8250 Clip (5) and one 297-1546 Clip (6), attach the two hoses to the machine at the location that is closest to the air conditioner compressor.
Refer to Illustration 2. By using the remaining 9X-8250 Clips (5), the remaining 297-1546 Clips (6) and the hardware that was removed in Step 2, attach the hoses to the machine at the two remaining locations. Install one clip (5) and one clip (6) at both locations.
Remove the three pressure switches from air conditioner fitting (F) and air conditioner fitting (J). Save the three pressure switches.
Refer to Illustration 1. Remove the bolt (H) and the plate (G) from the air conditioner compressor. Remove air conditioner fitting (F) and air conditioner fitting (J) .
Refer to Illustration 2. Install the 8T-4121 Hard Washer (10) to the 085-8091 Bolt (11). Apply the 4C-4030 Thread Lock Compound (12) to the bolt (11). Lubricate each 229-4896 O-Ring Seal (7) with refrigerant oil. Install the O-ring seals between the 304-2740 Air Conditioner Fitting (8) and the air conditioner compressor. By using the 8T-4121 Hard Washer (10) and the 085-8091 Bolt (11), install the 304-2740 Air Conditioner Fitting (8) to the air conditioner compressor. Torque the bolt to 25 7 N m (18 5 lb ft).Note: Add 30 mL (1 oz) of the 4C-2959 Air Conditioner Oil (17) to the air conditioner compressor.
Lubricate one 9X-7383 O-Ring Seal (13) with refrigerant oil. Install the O-ring seal to the 90 degree fitting on the 304-8967 Hose As (2). Install the fitting. Tighten the fitting to a torque of 49 + 12 - 1 N m (36 + 9 - 1 lb ft). Lubricate one 9X-7381 O-Ring Seal (14) with refrigerant oil. Install the O-ring seal on the straight end of the hose. Install the straight end of hose (2) to the connector that is on the 304-2740 Air Conditioner Fitting (8). The torque for the fitting is 27
