Disconnect hose assembly (46) from piston pump (47) .

Disconnect hose assembly (49) at the tee (48) .
Effective July 1, 1992 regulations prohibit the venting of any refrigerant into the atmosphere. Refer to Caterpillar publications Service Manuals, SENR3334, SENR5664, and NEDG5065 for the proper procedure, the proper equipment, and the proper tools needed in order to reclaim refrigerant from any Caterpillar equipment.
Personal injury can result from contact with refrigerant.This system is under pressure at all times, even if the engine is not running. Heat should never be applied to a charged system.Contact with refrigerant can cause frost bite. Keep face and hands away to help prevent injury.Protective goggles must always be worn when refrigerant lines are opened, even if the gauges indicate the system is empty of refrigerant.Always use caution when a fitting is removed. Slowly loosen the fitting. If the system is still under pressure, evacuate the system recovering the refrigerant before removing the fitting.Personal injury or death can result from inhaling refrigerant through a lit cigarette.Inhaling air conditioner refrigerant gas through a lit cigarette or other smoking method or inhaling fumes released from a flame contacting air conditioner refrigerant gas, can cause bodily harm or death.Do not smoke when servicing air conditioners or wherever refrigerant gas may be present.Before any checks of the air conditioning and heating system are made, move the machine to a smooth horizontal surface. Lower all implements to the ground. Make sure the transmission is in neutral or park and that the parking brake is engaged. Keep all other personnel away from the machine or where they can be seen.

Note: The purging of the air conditioning system is not required when hose assemblies (50) and (51) are disconnected.
Disconnect hose assemblies (50) and (51) at the quick disconnect plugs.Note: Ensure that harness assembly for warning light (54) is not damaged during removal.

Remove bolts (52) that secure front right panel (53) and warning light (54). Remove the panel from the truck.
Repeat Step 36 for front left lower panel (55) .

Remove bolts (57) that secure electrical box (56). Position the electrical box so the modular front end can slide forward.

Install Tooling (B) to modular front end (58) .
Install a suitable lifting device to Tooling (B). Attach the lifting device to a suitable crane. The complete modular front end weighs approximately 4826 kg (10640 lb).

Remove bolts (59) that secure the modular front end (58) to outrigger (60) .
Repeat Step 41 for the opposite side of the modular front end (58) .

Remove bolts (61) that secure the modular front end to truck frame (62) .

Note: Before the removal of modular front end (58), ensure that all harness assemblies and the hose assemblies have been disconnected.
Remove modular front end (58) from the truck. The modular front end (58) as a unit weighs approximately 4826 kg (10640 lb).

Secure the modular front end (58) to suitable cribbing for disassembly.
