Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound to studs (14) of inlet and exhaust manifold (15). Install a new gasket for the turbocharger.
Install the turbocharger onto the engine. Install four nuts that hold turbocharger (13) onto inlet and exhaust manifold (15). Tighten the four nuts to a torque of 44 N m (33 lb ft).

Install the bolts onto flanges (12) of oil drain line (11). Install the oil drain line onto the turbocharger. Ensure that the bolts for the flanges are tightened at the turbocharger and at the cylinder block. Do not connect the hoses for the oil drain line.
Lubricate the bearing housing of the turbocharger with clean engine oil. Install a new gasket. Install the bolts onto flange (7) of oil supply line (8). Tighten the bolts.
Install pipe connection (9) onto union (10). Use a wrench to hold union (10) while pipe connection (9) is installed.

If equipped, Install the hose clamps which fasten the compressor outlet to air inlet hose (6) of the aftercooler.
Install the exhaust elbow onto the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Exhaust Elbow - Remove and Install".

Install air cleaner (3) onto the turbocharger.
Install support bracket (5) onto the air cleaner.
Install hose (4) that connects the air cleaner to the crankcase breather.

Install hose (2) that connects the air cleaner to the turbocharger. Ensure that there are no restrictions in the air supply line to the turbocharger.

Install turbocharger cover (1) onto the turbocharger. Note: Ensure that the actuator rod for the waste gate is free to move before tightening the straps of the turbocharger cover.Note: The turbocharger cover is constructed of fiberglass. Wear a mask when the turbocharger cover is installed.
Operate the engine. Ensure that there is a flow of lubricating oil from the oil drain line. Connect the hoses for the oil drain line and tighten the hose clamps.
