Kickback ski switchThe kickback ski switch is an input to the ECM. The kickback ski switch is mounted on the kickback ski. The kickback ski is located on the right side of the machine (in front of the rotor box). While the machine is milling, this switch is used to detect a rearward movement. If rearward movement is detected, the ECM will stop the rotor and propulsion of the machine. The kickback ski must be set properly to perform the following:
Detect a kickback event.
Engage the rotor for milling.The kickback ski switch is an electronic proximity switch. This switch detects the presence or absence of metal. When a metal object is within 5 mm (0.19 inch) of the flat detection face of the switch, the switch is ON. A red LED indicator that is located in the switch will be turned ON. In this state, contact 6 on the ECM is grounded and contact 5 is open. When no metal object is within 15 mm (0.59 inch) of the flat detection face of the switch, the switch is OFF. The red LED is OFF. In the OFF state, contact 5 on the ECM is grounded and contact 6 is open. At the kickback ski switch connector, perform the following steps.
Connect contact 3 (wire 119-PK) to the battery.
Connect contact 1 (wire 229-BK) to ground.Note: The ECM detects a problem if both of the two input signals are grounded. The ECM will display this fault. The rotor engage function will be disabled until the problem is corrected.Note: The kickback ski switch has a mounting which can be adjusted if components are replaced or damaged. Rotor service door switchThe rotor service door switch is an input to the ECM. The rotor service door switch is mounted near the door hinge above the rear of the rotor box. When the door is open, this switch disables the following functions:
Engagement of the rotor
Propulsion of the machine
Steering of the rear tracksThe switch on the rotor service door is an electronic proximity switch. This switch detects the presence or absence of metal.
