When the parking brakes are released manually, the machine has no brakes.To avoid possible personal injury, the tires must be blocked securely before the parking brakes are manually released.
Install dump body prop before working under a raised dump body to prevent it from falling which could result in personal injury or death.
Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.To help prevent possible injury or death, refer to the information in Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting".
The parking brake can be disengaged manually when service work is required or when insufficient oil pressure in the braking system prevents the parking brake from being released .The following procedure needs to be carried out if the parking brake is manually released for any reason. This procedure can be used for resetting of the brake linings and the installation of new brake lining's.The parking brake is located on the rear drive line at the rear of the oscillating hitch.

Note: If the machine malfunctions and the parking brake is manually released for towing, the machine must be repaired before carrying out this procedure. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7064, "Parking Brake Manual Release". Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7064, "Towing the Machine".
Install the dump body prop. Block the wheels securely in order to prevent the machine from moving.
Start the engine. This will automatically disengage the parking brake without moving the parking and secondary brake control.
Rotate adjusting screw (2) counterclockwise until slack adjuster (3) is backed off.
Switch off the engine.
Perform any necessary service work to the parking brake. Replace the brake lining if excessive wear has taken place.
When service work is complete, rotate adjusting screw (2) clockwise until the brake lining contacts the brake disc.

Disconnect pressure switch (4) from the machine harness.
Start the engine.
Engage and then disengage the parking and secondary brake control at 10 second intervals 25 to 30 times. The slack adjuster will start to automatically adjust and the hydraulic system for the parking brake will automatically purge the system free of air.
When step 9 has been carried out leave the parking and secondary brake control in the DISENGAGED position.

Push spring brake actuator (1) and the parking brake forward toward the front of the machine.
Use a feeler gauge to measure the distance between brake lining (5) and brake disc (6) .
The measured distance should be 0.7 to 1.1 mm (0.027 to 0.043 inch).Note: If the measured distance is not within the specified range check the operation of the slack adjuster and related parts.
Move the control for the parking and secondary brake to the ENGAGED position and stop the engine.
Reconnect pressure switch (4) to the machine harness.
