This Program must be administered either before or after failure.In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS45381" as the Part Numberand "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code.If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
During fabrication of the frame 2 weld call outs were missed at the point where the swing drive doubler plate, car body top plate, and stiffener plate meet the side plate on certain 558B LL Forestry Excavators. These missed welds can allow water to seep between the plates and into the grease tub. If the tub fills with water the grease will become contaminated. This may result in early wear and failure of the swing drive components.

ACTION REQUIRED
Check the swing drive grease tub for water. Refer to Image1.
Locate and fill the corners of the stiffener plate with either of the following:
- Loctite RTV Black Adhesive Sealant
- Loctite SI 593 Black
- Sikaflex 252 Bonding Adhesive
Ensure the area is clean dry and free from oil and grease. Completely fill the two corners with sealant and allow to cure.
