Remove Procedure
Start By:
Remove the WDS motor. Refer to Remove and Install, "Piston Motor (Water Delivery) - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide"for tools and supplies to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Mark parts as needed to aid in assembly. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This action helps to prevent fluid loss and helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, clean the exterior of the components to dirt from entering the internal mechanism. Precision components can be damaged by contaminants or by dirt.

Remove coupler (1) from the input shaft of water pump (2). Note: Coupler (1) may remain on the output shaft of the WDS motor when the motor is removed. In this case, to prevent loss of the coupler, remove the coupler from the WDS motor.

Note: The connecting hardware varies with the customer installation of water pump (2).
Remove the eight bolts that connect water pump (2) outlet to adapter (3) on the spray bar.
Remove the eight bolts that connect water pump (2) to water tank outlet (4) .

Remove the four bolts (5) that connect water pump (2) to the mounting plate on the water tank.Note: Use a suitable lifting device to remove the water pump. The water pump weighs approximately 138 kg (304 lb.).

Fasten four bolts (5) that connect water pump (2) to the mounting plate on the water tank.
