Consult your Caterpillar dealer for more information.Note: It is possible to mount the Grapple to the stick of the host machine. There are auxiliary lines kits that are available for the hydraulic system. You must become familiar with the controls of your machine. You must become familiar with the configuration of your machine.Note: In order to maintain stability of the host machine, you must work with the tool in line with the tracks of the host machine.Shell Operation
CLOSE - In order to close the shells, move the control to the CLOSE position.OPEN - In order to open the shells, move the control to the OPEN position.Swivel Operation
Do not operate the work tool unless you have read and understand the instructions and warnings in the Operation and Maintenance Manual. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in machine or work tool damage, serious injury or death.
SWIVEL RIGHT - In order to rotate the Grapple to the right, move the control to the ROTATE RIGHT position.SWIVEL LEFT - In order to rotate the Grapple to the left, move the control to the ROTATE LEFT position.Safe Operating Zone

Operate the Grapple in Zone (C) . Zone (A) and Zone (B) are safety zones. Zone (A) is 20° to 25° of the total range. Zone (A) is at the bottom of the range. Zone (B) is the top of the range. Zone (B) is 10° to 15° of the total range. Do not operate the Grapple in Zone (A) or in Zone (B) . Zone (D) is the total range of the Grapple.Operating Techniques

The Grapple can be used for demolition and sorting work.In order to prevent the shell from crossing, always clamp objects in the middle of the shell.

Refer to Illustration 3 for an example.Do not use the rotation of the grapple to break objects.Do not apply more hydraulic pressure to the Grapple after you have clamped an object. When you apply more pressure, the temperature of the hydraulic oil will increase.Do not use the Grapple to perform demolition of concrete structures. The Grapple can be used to perform demolition of structures that are made of brickwork.
