All 3304 and 3306 EnginesA sealant is now put on the threads of the three pipe plugs that install at the bottom of the oil filter base assembly used on 3304 and 3306 Engines. The use of sealant on these plugs will give a better seal to prevent possible oil leakage. If oil leakage at the three 1B5174 Plugs is a problem on engines in the field, put 5P3413 Pipe Sealant with Teflon on the threads of the plugs.
It will be necessary to remove the oil filter base assembly from the engine to have access to the 1B5174 Plugs.After the sealant has been put on the threads of the plugs, install them and tighten to a torque of 45 lb ft (60 N m)
