Install Exhaust Manifold (Watercooled)
1. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on studs (4). Install gasket (3). Install watercooled exhaust manifold (2). Make sure the gasket is in position between the exhaust manifold and elbow (1). Step 2 is for 3408 Generator Sets only.2. Install the spacers, the washers and nuts (5) through (12) that hold the exhaust manifold in place. Tighten the nuts in numerical sequence to 52 7 N m (38 5 lb.ft.). Step 3 is for 3412 Generator Sets only.3. Install the spacers, the washers and nuts (13) through (24) that hold the exhaust manifold in place. Tighten the nuts in numerical sequence to a torque of 52 7 N m (38 5 lb.ft.). 4. Make sure O-ring seal (25) is in position. Put clean engine oil or glycerine on the seal. Install elbow (26). 5. Install the bolts, washers and nuts (27) that hold the exhaust manifold to elbow (1).6. Install the gaskets and elbow (28). Steps 7 and 8 are for watercooled exhaust manifolds that were removed from the left side of the engine (as seen from the generator end of the engine).7. Fasten tool (A) and a hoist to the air cleaner housing as shown. Install the air cleaner housing and bracket assembly (29) as a unit. Make sure the washer are installed between the flywheel housing and bracket assembly (29). Install the four bolts that hold it in place. 8. Put the two braces in position. Install bolts (30) to hold them in place. Make sure hose (31) is in the correct position between the turbocharger and the air cleaner housing. Tighten clamp (32). 9. Make sure gasket (33) is in position on the flywheel housing. 10. Install bracket assembly (34). Install the four bolts in front and the two bolts behind the fuel filter that hold the bracket assembly in position.11. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level.
