J1939 Code    Description    Comments    
101-18     Engine Crankcase Pressure : Low - Moderate Severity (2)     The Engine Control Module (ECM) activates this code when the crankcase pressure has been below the minimum value for a programmed period of time. The amber warning lamp is illuminated. The code is logged. Engine power is derated by 20 percent. The following conditions can cause this code:
The oil fill cap is off.
The oil level gauge (dipstick) is not fully seated.
The crankcase fumes disposal tube is not connected.    System Operation

Typical crankcase ventilation system (1) Breather (2) Crankcase fumes disposal tubeThe engine is equipped with a closed crankcase ventilation system. Refer to Illustration 1. Breather (1) and crankcase fumes disposal tube (2) route blowby from the valve cover base to the outlet of the turbocharger turbine. The breather contains a filter element. The filter element filters the blowby.Low crankcase pressure can occur if the crankcase is vented to the atmosphere. The conditions that can cause low crankcase pressure are listed in Table 2.Troubleshooting Procedure
Inspect the engine. Look for the conditions that are listed in Table 2. Make the necessary repairs.
Clear the code.
