PROBLEM
The cartridge for the A and B pin joints on certain 992G Wheel Loaders may have oversized or shallow threads in the puller hole used to remove the cartridge from the machine. These cartridges were installed from Parts Stock. The threads of the cartridge may fail at less than the rated load for the service tooling.

ACTION REQUIRED
Cartridges that have been procured through the Cat Part system for the A and B pin joints on the 992G Wheel Loaders may have oversized or shallow threads in the puller hole used to remove the cartridge from the machine. These cartridges are identified by a serial number in the range of 1 to 78 that is stamped on the end of the cartridge.
If there is any reason to remove the cartridge for the A and B pin joints, first determine if the serial number is within the range of 1 to 78. When viewing the cartridges from the operator station as they would be installed on the machine, the serial number is found on the left end of the cartridge between the Caterpillar part number and Caterpillar trademark as shown in Image 1. The serial number is in the location of the number 277 on the example pin shown in Image 1.
If the serial number is within the range of 1 to 78, inspect the threads for correct size using a Go/No-Go gauge. The cartridge has 2.0-12-2B inch threads. The Go/No-Go gauge must be traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) or an equivalent national standard.
If suspect threads are found in the puller hole of the cartridge, replace with like part and document the serial number of the cartridge removed in the claims story.

The 1.0 hour listed above is per machine to perform the inspection procedure on both pins. The cartridge as. replacement is a 3.0 hour job per cartridge, if required.
An additional 2.0 hours is allowed to fabricate the dealer tool required. This is a one time allowance per Repairing Dealer.
The serial number of any cartridge replaced in a machine covered under this
