2. Disconnect supply hose (3) and both the left and right side brake supply lines (2) from the slack adjuster (1).3. Remove the two bolts that fasten the slack adjuster to the manifold, and remove the slack adjuster. The following steps are for installation of the slack adjuster.4. To install, put slack adjuster (1) in position, and install the two bolts that hold it. Connect hose (3) and lines (2) to the slack adjuster.5. Remove the air from (bleed) the rear brakes. See Testing And Adjusting.Disassemble Slack Adjuster
START BY:a. remove slack adjuster
Housing assemblies (1) and (3) hold springs (4) under compression. To prevent possible personal injury, use caution when the housing assemblies are removed.
1. Turn housing assemblies (1) and (3) counterclockwise to remove them from base (2). 2. Remove spring (4) from between each housing and the base. Remove fitting (5) from housings (1) and (3). 3. Remove piston (6) from each housing. 4. Remove O-ring seal (7) from each piston (6). 5. Remove O-ring seals (8) and the fitting from base (2).Assemble Slack Adjuster
1. Make sure all parts are clean and free of foreign material. Inspect the condition of all O-ring seals, and make replacements if necessary. 2. Install O-ring seal (1) on each piston (2). 3. Install piston (2) in each housing (3). 4. Install O-ring seal (5) on each fitting (4), and install a fitting on each housing (3). 5. Install fitting and O-ring seals (6) in base (7). 6. Install spring (8) and housing (3) on each side of base (7).END BY:a. install slack adjuster
