INSTRUMENT PANEL PROTECTION GROUP 5S8669 - Caterpillar

1. Move the machine forward or backward until the drain plug for the final drive is on the bottom. Remove the drain plug, and drain the oil from the final drive. 2. Remove the bolts and cover (1) from the final drive. Remove the O-ring seal from the cover. 3. Install tool (A) on outer axle (2), and remove the outer axle.4. Install tool (A) on the inner axle. Remove the inner axle from the machine. The following steps are for installation of the axles.5. Align the splines on the inner axle with the splines in the bevel gear, and install the inner axle with tool (A).6. Use tool (A), and install outer axle (2).7. Install the O-ring seal in cover (1). Put cover (1) in position on the final drive carrier, and install the bolts that hold it.8. Fill the final drive with oil. See the Maintenance Guide.
