Solenoid Valve (Lift Linkage Lower) SchematicThis fault is recorded when the ECM detects that there is not a complete electrical path from the ECM to the solenoid back to the ECM. Note: The following test procedure may create other faults. Ignore these created faults and clear the faults when the original fault is corrected. Note: This fault is only present when the corresponding solenoid is active.Note: All solenoid return lines are joined and connect to contacts J1-7 and J2-3 (wire H716-WH) of the implement ECM.
CHECK SOLENOID.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Put the ECM in service mode with the same fault on hold.
Ensure that the fault present indicator is ON.
Disconnect the solenoid with the fault from the machine harness.
Observe the ON/OFF status of the fault present indicator.
At the harness connector for the solenoid, place a jumper wire between contact 1 (wire H716-WH) and 2 (wire H714-OR). Expected Result: The fault present indicator remains ON.Results:
YES - The fault present indicator remains ON. This indicates that a fault remains present. The machine harness is faulty or the ECM is faulty. Proceed to Step 2.
NO - The fault present indicator changes from ON to OFF. The solenoid valve has failed or the connecting harness has failed. Repeat this test in order to verify the failure. Repair the solenoid or replace the solenoid. Repair the connecting harness or replace the harness at the solenoid.Note: The approximate resistance of a proportional solenoid valve is from 6 to 12 Ohms. STOP.
CHECK HARNESS.
Turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Remove the jumper wire from contact 1 (wire H716-WH) to 2 (wire H714-OR).
Reconnect the solenoid valve to the machine harness.
Disconnect the machine harness from the ECM.
At the machine harness connector for the ECM, measure the resistance between contacts J2-3, J1-7 (wire H716-WH) and contact J1-4 (wire H714-OR) of the faulty solenoid. Note: The approximate resistance of a proportional solenoid valve is from 6 to 12 Ohms. STOP.Expected Result: The resistance is greater than 5000 Ohms with no continuity. Results:
YES - Resistance is greater than 5000 Ohms (no continuity). The harness circuit is faulty. Wire H716-WH is open in the machine harness between the ECM and the solenoid valve, or the wire to the solenoid valve is open. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. STOP.
NO - Resistance is from 6 to 12 Ohms. The harness circuit resistance is correct. It is unlikely that the ECM is faulty. Exit this procedure and perform this CID FMI procedure again. Also recheck if the fault present indicator is ON for this fault. If the cause is not found, replace the ECM. See Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace". STOP.
