Updates have been made to the body and canopy assemblies that are used on the machines. The sides of the body and canopy assembly have been strengthened at the rear of the body. The new design eliminates weld seams (3) on the bottom of both sides of the body. Cracks can develop in weld seams (3) .The updated body and canopy assembly became effective with FHD475-UP. Both sides of the truck body have changed. The new truck bodies have support (1) and support (2) on each side. The earlier truck bodies contained only the support (1). Earlier body and canopy assemblies can develop cracks. The body and canopy assemblies that may develop cracks are AHM720-1228 and FHD1-474.

Refer to Table 1. Several part numbers will contain this serial number. Check the serial number plate (4) . The serial number plate is located on the front of the truck body toward the cab. The truck bodies will fit on any of the listed machines.If the serial number on your machine falls within the above ranges and cracks develop, use the following procedure in order to repair the truck body.
By using air arc gouging, gouge out the crack (3) that is in the weld seam. Clean out the gouge.

Cut 305 - 457 mm (12 - 18 inch) (4) away from the weld seam. Do not leave a sharp point at the end of the cut. The length of the cut will depend on the bow in the plate that was the result of the crack in the weld seam. Leave a gap that will allow a full weld penetration.
Refer to the above listed special Instruction. Use a welding electrode that meets ANSI/AWS A5.1 or ANSI/AWS A5.20. Weld a backup strip to one side of the cut (4).
Pull the plate back into the correct position. Weld cut (4) in the plate. Get full penetration through the plate to the backup strip.
At weld seam (3), weld the plate to the side of the truck body.
