Remove the cover from the right side rear of the tractor in order to access the cooling fan.

Clean an area on one of the fan blades and apply a strip of reflective tape (1). Apply the reflective tape to an area which will be completely visible to photo pickup (2) .Note: Reflective tape (1) and photo pickup (2) are part of 9U-7402 Multitach Photo Group .
Attach the magnetic base of photo pickup (2) to the fan guard. Ensure that the photo pickup and reflective tape (1) are in alignment.
Measure the minimum fan speed. Refer to "Minimum Fan Speed".
Measure the maximum fan speed. Refer to "Maximum Fan Speed".
Measure the fan drive system pressure. Refer to "Fan Drive System Pressure".
Remove 9U-7402 Multitach Photo Group from the machine and reinstall the cover to the right side rear of the tractor.
Remove the steering frame lock. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Steering Frame Lock".Minimum Fan Speed
Ensure that the machine has not been operated recently and that the machine is cold before performing the test.
Start the engine and run the engine at low idle.
Record the reading that is displayed on the screen of Tooling (A). The fan speed at low idle should be 700 rpm 100 rpm.If the fan speed is incorrect, refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Fan Drive System Troubleshooting".
Shut off the engineMaximum Fan Speed
Start the engine. Run the engine at high idle and fully engage the retarder.
Record the reading that is displayed on the screen of Tooling (A). The fan speed should be 1700 rpm 100 rpm.If the fan speed is incorrect, refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Fan Drive System Troubleshooting".
Disengage the retarder. Run the engine at low idle before shutting off the engine.Fan Drive System Pressure
Ensure that the oil is at operating temperature. Refer to systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "General Information" for information on warming the oil.

Remove the dust cap and install a 20680 kPa (3000 psi) on the test fitting.
Start the engine. Run the engine at high idle and fully engage the retarder.
Record the reading that is displayed on the pressure gauge. The pressure should be 17500 kPa (2540 psi).If the pressure is not 17500 kPa (2540 psi), there may be a problem with one of the components within the fan drive system.
Disengage the retarder. Run the engine at low idle before shutting off the engine.
Remove the pressure gauge.
