Route the ground wire along the 24 V harness and use 3S-2093 Cable Straps to secure the ground wire.
Illustration 27 g02001393
Weld a ground stud or use an available threaded mounting hole on the screed. Do not use mounting holes on the walkway to connect the cable.
Cut the ground wire to length. Crimp a terminal assembly to the end of the ground wire.
Attach the ground wire to the screed.

Replace the circuit breakers and connect white wires (15) to the ground.Instructions for installing the heat Shields
This procedure is for the following screeds:
10-20B
8-16B
AS2302
AS2301
AS3251C
AS2251
AS2252C
Remove the conduit and the cover from the screed frame in order to access elements and the connectors.
Disconnect the connectors from the elements.Note: Be careful not to break the connectors when removing from the retaining clips.Note: Extend-a-Mat screeds must have heat shields on all heater elements. Versa-Mat screeds use only two heat shields.
Orient the heat shield in order to match the natural curvature for the shield.
Illustration 29 g02001573
Illustration 30 g02001574
Determine the slot orientation based on the screed type and on the curvature of the heat shield. Increase the size of the slot to approximately 6 mm (0.24 inch) wide.
Illustration 31 g02001575
Pass the connectors and wires through the slots on the shields.
Illustration 32 g02001976
Pass the shield over the tops of the elements. The heat shields must lie flat over the inner sheet metal.Note: Some manipulation and stretching of the heat shield is allowable.
If the heat shield does not lie flat, enlarge the size of the slot of the heat shield. Do not oversize the slots more than required.
Illustration 33 g02001981
If necessary, cut a slit (17) on only one element slot to the edge of the heat shield in order to help route the shield over the wires and tops of elements. The slit should not be required on the main screed plates, but the slit may be required on the extender sections for the Extend-a-mat rear mount screeds. The rear mounted screeds do not have the access hole directly over the elements.
Place 4C-9612 Silicone Sealant on the four corners of the heat shield in order to fix the shield in place.
Connect the connectors to the harness.
Start the machine and turn on the generator. Press the ON/OFFcontrol button on the control panel. Heat the elements in order to ensure that no moisture is present around element potting cup.
Place a liberal amount of 4C-9612 Silicone Sealant over the top of the element potting cup (16) .
Install conduit and access covers to the screed frame.
