Information:
If the spiral spring built in the reel drum is broken during operation, there will be no spring force on the reel drum necessary to coil the extended hydraulic hose. When this happens, the hose remains slackened and can be damaged, if the telescopic stick is retracted under this condition. To avoid this problem, if a spring is broken, carefully and slowly retract the telescopic stick while manually rotating the reel drum. Use an additiond person to do this combined operation. (1) Spring case (L. H.)(2) Spring (L. H.)(3) U-Pipe(4) Bearing case(5) Ball bearing(6) Rotary joint(7) Set screw(8) Stop ring(9) Shaft(10) Drum(11) Stand (L. H.)(12) Bolt(13) Spring washer(14) Base(15) Stand (R. H.)(16) Stop bolt(17) Flexible hose(18) Key(19) Spring case (R. H.)(20) Spring (R. H.)(21) Bolt(22) Spring washer(23) Nut
A broken spiral spring in the spring case is under load and can fly off when removing from the spring case. This can cause personal injury. To avoid this, it is recommended to replace a spring and spring case as a set.
1. Remove the clamshell bucket from the telescopic stick. Put the machine in the transportation position.2. Put an appropriate wooden block [approximately 30 to 35 mm (1.2 - 1.4 inch) thick] in position between drum (10) and base (14). This is to support the drum when L. H. stand (11) is removed during replacement of the spring.3. Remove setscrew (7) from L. H. stand (11).4. Remove bolts (12) and L. H. stand (11).5. Remove rotary joint (6) from shaft (9).6. Remove stop ring (8) and remove bearing (5) and bearing case (4) from shaft (9).7. L. H. spring (2) and/or R. H. spring (20) must be always removed from the left side. If only L. H. spring (2) is to be replaced; remove cotter pin (21) and bolt (22), and remove L. H. spring (2) and L. H. spring case (1) as a set.8. If R. H. spring (20) is to be replaced; after removing the L. H. spring, remove drum (10) from shaft (9) and then remove the R. H. spring (20) complete with spring case (19).9. Installation is the reverse of disassembly procedure.
