ISOLATOR 3084542 - Caterpillar

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: SERVICE DATA: TOOLING (ZZ) WILL NOT BE IDENTIFIED IN PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE REMOVAL OR THE INSTALLATION. THIS TOOLING IS SHOWN IN ORDER TO ASSIST THE EXPERIENCED SERVICEMAN.

Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device onto hood (1). The outer chain must be 203 mm (8.0 inches) shorter in order to allow level removal of the hood.

Open door (2).

Disconnect hose assemblies (3). Remove valve (4) in order to relieve hydraulic pressure from the cylinder. Remove pin (5) .

Close door (2) and install a bolt in order to secure door (2). Remove bolts (6) .

Use Tooling (A) in order to raise the hood approximately 152 mm (6.0 inches). DO NOT REMOVE THE HOOD AT THIS TIME.
Disconnect harness assembly (7). Harness assembly (7) must be disconnected prior to the removal of the hood.
Remove hood (1). The weight of hood (1) is approximately 635 kg (1400 lb).Installation Procedure

Install hood (1) into position. The weight of hood (1) is approximately 635 kg (1400 lb). DO NOT INSTALL THE HOOD AT THIS TIME.

Lower hood (1) to a distance of 152 mm (6.0 inch) from the frame of the machine. Connect harness assembly (7) .

Lower the hood into position on the frame of the machine. Install bolts (6). Open door (2) .

Install pin (5). Install valve (4). Connect hose assemblies (3) .

Close door (2) .
