Loaders980C Loaders have four 4V1058 Hose Assemblies which are part of the 2V2356 Grease Lines Group (not available for parts service). The four hoses are connected between the blocks on the loader frame behind the lift arm mounting pins, and the blocks on the inside of the lift arms in front of the mounting pins. The hoses go under the lift arm mounting and, on some machines, it is possible for the hoses to make contact with the mounting pin bosses. This contact can cause wear or damage to the hoses.
The possible causes of hose contact are the direction of hose installation, and the exact location of the connection blocks on the loader frame and the lift arms. On most machines where hose contact is found, it can be prevented by a change in the direction of hose installation.
One end of each 4V1058 Hose Assembly has a rigid connection with a 1/8" pipe thread, and the other end has a swivel (can be turned) connection with a 1/4" pipe thread. The swivel connection fits into a 5H8936 Adapter (1/4" to 1/8"). If the 5H8936 Adapter is installed in the 4M8973 Elbow in the block on the frame behind the lift arms, it can cause hose contact. Remove the adapter and the hose, install the adapter in the block inside the lift arm, then install the hose in the opposite direction. This will put the rigid hose connection toward the rear and the swivel connection toward the front, and give more clearance between the hose and the mounting pin boss of the lift arms.
