Information:

Start By:a. remove idler gears 1. Remove nut (1) and collar (2). Use tooling (A) if necessary to remove nut (1). 2. Remove O-ring seal (3) from drum shaft. 3. Install two bolts (4) into the support flange to hold the drive gear in position when the drum shaft and bearings are removed. The bolts must be shorter than the original bolts by the same amount of the thickness of the retaining ring that was removed. 4. Attach a hoist and nylon strap to the drum. Install tooling (B) on the end of drum shaft (5) as shown. Pull on the shaft until bearings (6) and spacer (7) are out of the drum drive gear and the shaft is loose. 5. Remove bearings (6) and spacer (7) from drum shaft (5). 6. Remove drum shaft (5). The drum shaft weighs 46 kg (101 lb.). 7. Install two 1/2-13 NC guide bolts (8) in the drum support flange. Remove two bolts (4) that hold the drum drive gear to the support flange. 8. Slide drum drive gear (10) off of support flange (9) and install a nylon strap and hoist. Remove the guide bolts and drum drive gear (10) from the case. The drum drive gear weighs 36 kg (79 lb.). 9. Remove twelve drum bolts (11) from drum (12) while supporting the drum with a hoist. 10. Support drum support flange (9) and remove drum (12). The drum weighs 91 kg (201 lb.). 11. Remove drum support flange (9) from the winch case. 12. Remove lip-type seal (13) from the case. 13. Remove O-ring seal (14) from drum (12). 14. Remove bolts (15). Install two 3/8-16 NC forcing screws and remove retainer (16) from the drum. 15. Remove two bearing assemblies (17) from the drum. 16. Remove lip-type seal (18) from retainer (16). 17. Remove O-ring seal (20) and spacer (19) from the drum shaft.Install Drum
1. Install spacer (19) and O-ring seal (20) on the drum shaft. Lubricate the O-ring seal with SAE 30 oil. 2. Use tooling (A) and install lip-type seal (18) into retainer (16). Lubricate the seal lip with SAE 30 oil. 3. Install two bearing assemblies (17) into the drum. 4. Install retainer (16) on the drum. Tighten bolts (15) to a torque of 55 7 N m (41 5 lb.ft.). 5. Lubricate O-ring seal (14) with SAE 30 oil. Install O-ring seal (14) on drum (12). 6. Install lip-type seal (13) in the winch case as shown. Lubricate the seal lip with SAE 30 oil. 7. Install drum support flange (9) into the winch case as shown. 8. While supporting drum support flange (9), put drum (12) into position in the case. 9. Install twelve bolts (11) that hold the drum support flange to drum (12). Tighten bolts (11) to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb.ft.). 10. Use a hoist and a nylon strap to install drum drive gear (10) into the case. 11. Install
