Certain 784B, 785B, and 789B Trucks may experience erratic shift events. These shifts are unwanted but may occur due to incorrect speed sensor signal interpretation by the EPTC-II Control. If the truck holds in gear and will not downshift or has erratic shifting the EPTC-II Control and speed sensor should be changed. The new speed sensor must be used in conjunction with new control.

1. Inspect all harnesses and connectors for transmission controls and speed sensor. Replace or repair harness if damage is evident. Download EPTC-II Control and rectify any logged faults before commencing to Step 2.2. Refer to the Service Manual (SENR9122-02 or later). Install a new 178-5174 Control and 1440178 Speed Sensor. Lock wire the harness at the speed sensor.Service Claim Allowances
