Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Use caution when changing oil or changing filters. Hot oil or components can cause burns if they contact skin.
Operate the machine in order to warm the oil.Park the machine on level ground. Lower all attachments to the ground with a slight downward pressure. Move the transmission lock switch into the LOCKED position. Stop the engine.

Slowly remove the hydraulic tank filler cap in order to relieve the system pressure.

Open the access door that is located underneath the cab on the left side of the machine.

The hydraulic filters are located behind the tilt pump for the cab. Remove the filter elements by using the following steps.
Place a pan under the filters.
Remove the drain plugs. Then, loosen the filter housings with a strap type wrench to allow air entry into the filter housing to allow for oil drainage.
Allow some time for complete drainage of oil from the filter housings.
Remove the filter housings from the oil filter bases. Properly discard the filter elements.
Clean the filter element mounting bases. Remove any part of the filter element gasket that remains on the filter element mounting bases.
Replace a new filter element into the housing. Apply a thin coat of oil to the gasket of the new filter elements.
Install the filter housings onto the filter bases. When the gasket contacts the filter element mounting base, tighten the housing to a torque of 40 5 N m (30 4 lb ft). Use a 32 mm (1.25 inch) box end wrench.
Install the drain plugs. Tighten to a torque of 12.5 2.5 N m (9.2 2 lb ft).
Close the rear access door.
Tighten the hydraulic tank filler cap.
