The catalyst should be cleaned if a loss in activity or an increase in pressure drop is suspected. A rise in temperature indicates a need to clean the catalyst. The contamination in the exhaust stream will determine the schedule for cleaning.Note: Prior to removal of the catalysts, identify the position of the catalysts and airflow direction. The catalysts should be removed before cleaning. Consult your Cat dealer for the procedure to remove the catalyst. Using a vacuum is the preferred method of cleaning. Use the vacuum on the inlet side of the catalyst. Use compressed air in a shop environment only. Compressed air should be directed through the catalyst from the opposite direction of air flow. Clean all loose debris from the catalyst before reinstalling.Washing the DOC Catalyst
If fouling and masking agents resist removal by other procedures, washing of the catalyst may be required. Consult your Cat dealer for guidelines.
