This Program must be administered either before or after failure.In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS45619" as the Part Numberand "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code.If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
The existing gearbox oil heater may malfunction due to oil being over heated on the surface of the heater inside the gearbox on certain CG170-16, G3512E, G3516H, G3520C, and G3520H Generator Sets. If the existing oil heater malfunctions, it's ability to heat the oil inside the gearbox will be compromised, and lubrication of gearbox components during start-up may not be sufficient.

ACTION REQUIRED
During the next gearbox oil change interval (as recommended in the Operation and Maintenance Manual), remove the existing 8C-9512 Oil Heater and replace with a new 532-3492 Oil Heater.
