Most 2278715 and all 2278825 Center Tread IdlerGroups need to be removed from dealer parts stock. These two new centertread idler groups were recently introduced as a part of the new (production)SystemOne Undercarriage used on D6H, D6M, D6N, and D6R Track-Type Tractors.These idler groups that were ordered from January 1, 2004 through February1, 2005 could have non-conforming parts and/or been assembled incorrectly.ACTION REQUIRED
Part 1 - 2278715 Center Tread Idler Groups forD6H and D6R Track-Type Tractors.Two suppliers make the 2278715Center Tread Idler Group. The non-conformance problems of these idler groupsare related to only one of the two suppliers.The non-conforming idlers can be identifiedby features on the side of the cast idler shell. The non-conforming 2278715Idler Groups DO NOT have cast "fins" on the web face of the idler at thehub base. These cast "fins" are only on one side of the idler. So, bothsides of any idler must be inspected for proper determination of conformingvs. non-conforming idlers.
All 2278715 Center Tread Idler Groups thatDO NOT have cast "fins" on one side need to be removed from dealer partsstock and identified with a paint "stripe" or large paint "dot" on bothsides of the idler side face for easy identification. See the examplesbelow. The identification "stripe" or "dot"is to be painted on both sides of the idler for easy identification.2278715 Center Tread Idler Groups that are correctlybuilt have cast "fins" on the web face at the hub base. These idlers withcast "fins" are O.K. to use and should be returned to dealer parts stock.Part 2 - 2278825 Center Tread Idler Groupsfor D6M and D6N Track-Type Tractors.Remove all 2278825 Center Tread Idler Groupsfrom dealer parts stock. Identify all of these idler groups with a paint"stripe" or large paint "dot" on both sides of the idler side face foreasy identification. See the examples above.SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
