Change VIMS Main Module Battery
The internal battery should be replaced approximately every two years or 10,000 hours which ever occurs first. This will help to ensure that stored information (payload, machine event, etc.) is retained. If VIMS detects a failed battery, a warning event should indicate the battery needs replacement.Procedure
1. Stop the machine and shut down the engine. Disconnect switch remains in the ON position.2. Turn the key start switch or the VIMS service key switch to the ON position.3. Connect the VIMS Off-board service tool and download all stored information.4. Leave the key start switch or the VIMS service key switch in the ON position. Disconnect switch remains in the ON position. If these switches remain ON during replacement, date and time of day are less likely to require programming.5. Remove battery (1) from the top of the VIMS main module.6. Check the O-ring cover seal. Make sure it is properly placed and not damaged. Install the cover and tighten securely.7. The real time clock circuit in the main module is powered by this battery. Battery failure will cause the loss of date and time setting. Power up after replacement will cause the date and time to default to a date of 01/01/00 and a time of 00:00:00. Use the Off-board service tool to set the time and date if required.
