TM-1 Problem
The 8T0892 Collar Assembly used in 8T0930, 8T2850, 1U6428, 1U6429, 1U6430 and 5Z9862 Tool Groups for retaining the hydraulic tensioner cylinders to the main bearing studs of the 3600 Family of Engines may fail while the studs are being tensioned.

All individual 8T0892 Collar Assemblies; all 8T0892 Collar Assemblies used in 8T0930, 8T2850, 1U6428, 1U6429, 1U6430, and 5Z9862 Tool Groups for retaining the hydraulic tensioner cylinders to the main bearing studs on the 3600 Family of Engines.

Parts Needed
Dealers will need to order parts for this Program.
1 - 4C5818 Order one 4C5818 Collar And Retainer Group to replace each 8T0892 Collar Assembly. Each of the tool groups will require two of the new 4C5818 Collar And Retainer Groups.
Action Required
Parts Stock And Affected Product
Remove all individual 8T0892 Collar Assemblies; and 8T0892 Collar Assemblies in 8T0930, 8T2850, 1U6428, 1U6429, 1U6430, and 5Z9862 Tool Groups from parts stock and from tool groups that have been placed in service. Replace the collar assemblies with 4C5818 Collar And Retainer Groups. Special Instruction SEHS9156 Installation And Use Of 4C5818 Collar And Retainer Group gives instructions and procedures for assembling using the new collar and retainer groups. Enter a SIMS ticket for each engine serial number in your territory. If a particular engine does not have its own tool group containing the 8T0892 Collar Assembly, enter "No Tool" in the comment section.

U.S. and Canadian owners will receive the attached Owner Notification.
Service Claim Allowances
Submit one claim for all 8T0892 Collar Assemblies removed from parts stock and for those that have been placed in service.
Parts Disposition
All parts removed (with the exception of cores used for Caterpillar Remanufactured parts) should be rendered useless and scrapped immediately upon completion of the repair.
MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO COMPLETE THIS PROGRAM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
