(1) Torque for carrier bolts ... 250-290 N m (185-215 lb.ft.)(2) Diameter of a new planet shaft ... 44.389-44.405 mm (1.7476-1.7482 in.)(4) Bore in a new planet gear ... 57.117-57.137 mm (2.4896-2.4904 in.)(5) Bleed screw must be in uppermost position.(6) Rubber toric seals and all contacting surfaces must be clean and dry prior to assembly. Smear a thin film of oil onto the contacting surfaces of the metal seals just before installation. Lubricate all other seals on assembly.(7) Torque for bolts (after adjusting wheel bearings) ... 130-170 N m (95-125 lb.ft.)Wheel Bearing Adjustment.
1. Install the wheel assembly (9) on the spindle and install hub and ring gear assembly (10).2. Measure the thickness of retainer (8) at the three small holes and average the measurements.3. Install the retainer without any shims (3) using four bolts evenly spaced. Tighten the four bolts to a torque of 120-150 N m (90-110 lb.ft.) while turning the wheel assembly slowly by hand.4. Loosen the four bolts and re-torque to 18-32 N m (15-25 lb.ft.)5. Use a depth micrometer to measure the distance to the end of the spindle (11) through the three small holes. Average the three measurements.6. Subtract the average measurement made in step 2 from the average measurement made in step 5. This is the gap between the end of the spindle and the retainer.7. Make up a shim pack whose thickness equals the gap between the spindle and retainer plus 0.2 mm (0.008 in.).8. Install the shim pack, retainer and bolts. Tighten the bolts to their specified torque.
