Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Clean the inlet manifold heater face with cleaning solvent. Apply Tooling (A) to the inlet manifold heater face. Allow Tooling (A) to dry for 3 to 5 minutes. Apply Tooling (B) to the joint face and spread uniformly. Heater assembly must be installed and tightened within 10 minutes.

Position air inlet elbow (5) and inlet manifold heater (7) on the cylinder block. Install bolts (6). Tighten bolts (6) to a torque of 28 7 N m (21 5 lb ft).
Install ground straps (8) (if equipped).Note: The brackets that hold down the wiring harness must be installed in the proper locations.
Connect inlet air temperature sensor (3) and hose assembly (4) to air inlet elbow (5) .
Connect harness assemblies (1) and (2) to air inlet elbow (5) .
