3508, 3512, 3516 EnginesDescription of Change: Several changes have been made to the indicators (gauges) used on the 3500 Series Engines. 1. Some of the new indicators are filled with an inert gas and have improved sealing. The former indicators were oil filled and the seals could leak.2. Orifices are used in the lines going to the indicators to dampen pressure pulses and reduce wear to the indicators.3. An electric service meter is used that requires no external power. A magnetic pickup on the flywheel generates electricity that operates the service meter. This new meter records clock hours while the engine is running at any engine speed.4. The new instrument panel boxes will have 8 or 16 holes. This will provide space to mount additional indicators.5. Both of the lines for the oil filter differential gauge are connected to the oil filter housing. This will provide more accurate readings of the oil filter differential pressure. The former lines were connected either to the oil cooler and cylinder block or to the oil cooler and oil filter housing.Adaptable As: The improved instrument panel groups are in effect on engines shown in Chart A. Chart B shows a partial parts list of the new instrument panel mounting and service meter groups.
